How often should I have maintenance done on my system?

We recommend have maintenance performed once a year, for each piece of equipment. For example, if you have a gas furnace with an air conditioner, each year you will have one maintenance for your furnace and one maintenance for your air conditioner, for a total of two in one year.

Just as the dentist recommends you have your teeth checked every six months, if you decide to go once a year, all your teeth probably won’t fall out. The same goes for your equipment, if you decide instead of having maintenance preformed once a year, and opt for every other year, it’s better than not having any maintenance at all.

What time of the year should I have my maintenance done?

There is no specific month of year that maintenances should be completed. However, to complete an effective maintenance on your equipment, it must be tested while its performing under normal operating conditions. For an air conditioner, it would be anytime during spring or summer, and for a furnace or air handler, it would be in the fall or winter.

My system is brand new, do I need maintenance?

When you buy a brand-new car, maintenance is recommended within the first year and every year following. This is done to maintain your warrantee, and ensure you get the longest life possible out of your investment. The same goes for your brand-new equipment, maintenance in the first 10 years of your equipment’s life is the most effective method rather than starting maintenance after your equipment is a few years old.
